Nourishing Faith, Supporting Community
At Rivers of Living Water Ministry — the church with the healing touch — we believe that when people encounter the love of Christ, hearts are renewed, lives are changed, and healing begins.
Our History
On August 16, 2011, Ministers Larry and Syles Carter were confirmed by two Apostles that they had been called and elevated to pastoral leadership.
After much prayer and fasting, Rivers of Living Water Ministry (“The Rivers”) was birthed and officially incorporated in February 2012. Pastors Larry and Syles were then led to Altamonte Springs, Florida, to begin the ministry.
On March 18, 2012, Rivers of Living Water Ministry, Inc. held its first service at the East Altamonte Civic Center. Elders Rodney and Gay Davis were among the first to join the ministry. The Rivers was called to evangelize, and members began walking the streets, knocking on apartment doors, and visiting neighborhoods to pray for God’s people and remind them that they were not forgotten and that Jesus loves them.
As the ministry grew, on August 1, 2012, The Rivers moved to Live Oaks Boulevard in Casselberry, Florida. The congregation eventually had to expand the space twice by removing walls to accommodate growth. During this time, the ministry continued to evangelize throughout Casselberry, Altamonte Springs, and Sanford, Florida.
In December 2012, The Rivers partnered with the SOSA Agency as volunteers. They asked if a portion of the harvested produce could be brought back to the communities they served. SOSA agreed, and members began gleaning fields of corn, squash, oranges, and other crops. The same day the harvest was gathered, it was brought back to the community and distributed free to anyone in need, demonstrating God’s love and care for His people.
In March 2014, Rivers celebrated its 2nd Church Anniversary by hosting “The Power of Prayer Breakfast” (POP) in its sanctuary. The event grew rapidly. The following breakfasts were held at the East Altamonte Civic Center, with over 200 attendees, and later at the Sanford Civic Center, with more than 500 attendees.
In 2020, the Lord gave new direction to hold POP in a church sanctuary at SafeHarbor Christian Church in Sanford, Florida. At the time, no one knew that a global pandemic called COVID-19 was about to begin. The event was a tremendous blessing, with over 300 people in attendance, and no reports of anyone becoming ill.
In December 2016, Elders Rodney and Gay Davis were elevated and ordained as Pastors. In June 2018, they were installed as Pastors of Rivers of Living Water Ministry Cocoa (Rivers 2), with their first service held on Saturday, June 16, 2018. At that time, the ministry adopted the motto:
“One God, One Church in Two Locations.”
In 2022, Rivers acquired an unfinished church property in Sanford, Florida, and began holding “Service on the Lawn.” While awaiting final approval of the professional building plans from the City of Sanford, the ministry is currently worshipping at:
Seminole- Safe Harbor Christian Church, 730 Upsala Road, Sanford, Florida, where services begin at 9:00 AM.
Brevard- First Baptist of Cocoa 215 Oak Street, Cocoa, FL 32922, where Sunday School on Saturday begins at 9:00 AM and Service begins at 10:00 AM.
